“WE ARE THE WEAVERS, WE ARE THE WOVEN ONES”

Many things changed when I got sick with Trigeminal Neuralgia in 2021. It was one of the most difficult things I’ve been through but it also brought strange and unexpected blessings. It was hard to do my regular film work, and so challenging to sit in front of a computer screen with quite literal “mind-bending” pain. Weaving and fibre art had been tugging at my soul for many years. So I decided to finally START! When I tied knots, when my hands were busy making connections, I got distracted and the medication side effects and pain felt less daunting.

Trigeminal Neuralgia disrupts nerve function in the brain and the neurochemicals that are released in the processes of weaving, imaging, and creating, have allowed my brain to find new patterns. Being in the flow of weaving is part of my healing treatment and has opened a whole universe for me. In it I’ve found a platform where I will be bringing together what I’ve learned about nervous system regulation, somatic healing, inter-generational trauma work where we are to weave ourselves back into the full expression of our healed selves, where we become one with the fabric of the universe. “We are the weavers, we are the woven-ones.”

I bring into my work my experience with somatic, nervous system regulation, and inner child healing work. Currently I am training in the Art and Neuroscience of Trauma Informed Leadership with Dr. Nima Rahmany, creator of the Overview Method for healing attachment trauma.

A little more about me…

I am a Colombian-born, Toronto-based creative producer and film director, passionate about championing diverse content, and using film and the arts as a tool for education and social justice. My films tackle themes such as gender equality, human rights, intergenerational trauma, healing and transformation. I draw a lot of my inspiration from the Baha’i Faith. I hold a BFA Honours degree in Film and Media Studies, a BEd, a Media Leadership certificate, and a Spanish/English Interpreter Certificate. I collaborate with a number of media creatives around the world and am a co-founder of Wrapped Productions Inc.

In addition to my film career, I’ve also managed and produced several international conferences and events, organized media and artistic logistics and content for events equipped for thousands of participants. My work has taken me to over a dozen countries where I have led creative projects for a variety of not-for-profit organizations and grassroots impact initiatives.
